Aug 19, 2011

I decided to start a blog today.  Not because my life is fascinating, but because I wanted to log my journey through the good times and the bad times.  Sometimes it's difficult to tell one from the other.  In the end, I know whatever happens is meant to be.

I retired from the Air Force in 2008 and was hired again by the Air Force soon after.  I had been living in a rental home since 2006 and seriously started looking for a home of my own in late 2008.  After scouring the internet, wasting tanks of gasoline, and dealing with a shady realtor, I'd found what I thought was my dream home.  Little did I know that dream would soon become a nightmare for me.  But I digress - the house was new, it was on 1.5 acres of land, and was the only house on the road at the time.  What more could I ask for?  I would fence it in immediately so my dogs could roam around freely.  No neighbors, peaceful country living, this is what I'd waited 42 years for.  I would no longer have to worry about my rescue dogs causing damage to a house that I didn't own.  And I'd no longer be tied to that 5 dog limit - I could temporarily foster dogs until they either found a new home or another foster home opened up.  Closing day was May 7, 2009 and I was a first-time homeowner.  My story had just begun.
